Born in New York in 1972, Ari Benjamin Meyers lives and works in Berlin.
Trained as a composer and conductor, he works primarily in the medium of music.
Recent compositions include The Lightning and Its Flash (solo for conductor, 2011),
SOLO (performance installation for one singer and one audience member, 2010), and
Symphony X (for Redux Orchestra, 2009; for two pianos, 2010; for electronics, 2011;
for orchestra, 2012).
In addition to several collaborations with Tino Sehgal he has also collaborated with
Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster on the installation/performance NY.2022 at the Solomon
R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2008), K.62/K.85 for Performa '09
(with guest performances in Kaaitheater, Brussels and Hebbel am Ufer,
Berlin, 2011), and most recently T.451, a scenic walk for Tensta Konsthall (2012).
Further collaborations include The Fairytale Recordings with Saâdane Afif (2011),
The Breathing Line (2012) and 1395 Days Without Red (2011) with Anri Sala and
Il Tempo del Postino, with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Philippe Parreno (Manchester
International Festival, 2007 and Art Basel, 2009).
